The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of the municipality of Balti Maxim Moroșan voted for the integrity of Balti and for a bright and correct future of the city, IPN reports.

After he cast his ballot, the election contender said that the future mayor should first of all conduct an inventory and an audit in the municipality and should set priorities for half a year.

Maxim Moroșan also said that the municipality of Balti and, in general, the northern districts have specific needs that can be realized and satisfied by local people, not by persons from elsewhere.

The local runoffs are considered valid if at least 1/5 of the eligible voters mark their choice in each of the constituencies. The candidate who polls most of the votes in the runoffs is considered the winner. If the votes gained by the candidates are equal, the candidate with the largest number of votes in the first round of voting is declared the winner. If the candidates in the first round also obtained an equal number of voters, the district electoral council will hold a draw.

Polls close at 9 p.m.
