The wearing of masks remains mandatory for those who didn’t get vaccinated and for those who got a vaccine. A return to the life before the pandemic without restrictions is not yet possible, deputy head of the Chisinau Health Division Boris Gîlcă stated in an interview for RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service, referring to the reports that the COVID-19 red alert level in the capital city could be replaced with an orange alert level the next few days.
The official said the infection rate in Chisinau is of 70 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people, which enables to issue an orange code instead of the red one. “This is good news as, owing to the citizens of the capital city who showed responsibility and solidary, we are witnessing an evident and essential decline in new infections,” stated Boris Gîlcă.
He also said that the Public Health Commission of Chisinau will soon come together to decide what restrictions can be lifted. Mass vaccination is the best solution for containing the pandemic.
The third stage of the vaccination campaign, which covers the general population, is now conducted in Moldova.
