The first Martisors, of various sizes and colors, are already on sale. However, the vendors are unhappy with the current demand, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Traditionally, each year tens of Martisor dealers appear on the streets. Stefan cel Mare Avenue, between Puskin and Vlaicu Pircalab streets, becomes a red-and-white sea.
Alexandru sells Martisors made by his mother. They cost between 1 and 25 lei. Constatin came from Lozova village, Straseni district, to sell Martisors made by his wife. A hand-made talisman of spring can cost up to 60 lei. Each one has its price, depending on the effort and the materials used.
Valentina sells Martisors she made herself. She says that working on a bigger Martisor, for decorating a room, can take several days. “It requires diligence and love”, the craftswoman said.
In Moldova, people offer and receive Martisors as a sign of spring and wear them in March. Afterwards, the talismans are hung on fruit trees.
