Married couple from Drochia aggressed by thieves

A couple from Drochia town were aggressed by two individuals who broke into their home with balaclavas on their heads on January 26. In a news conference on January 29, police officials said four suspects were arrested in this case. These all live in northern districts of Moldova and have a criminal past, IPN reports.

General Police Inspectorate chief Alexandru Pînzari said the spouses, who are elderly people, were tied and beaten. The suspects stole money, gold jewels and a pistol held legally from the house. The police carried out searches at the scene and later at five persons involved in this case.

One of the four arrested persons acted as the organizer. This is 25 and was earlier tried, being released from the Balti Penitentiary last November. Another man, who played the role of executor, is 24 and was earlier tried for similar offenses. He was also set free from the Balti Penitentiary in 2018. Among the suspects are also two men aged 21 and 23 with criminal records. Evidence was found at the homes of the suspects, including the stolen pistol.

The suspects face eight to ten years in jail for break-in. One of them admitted his guilt.

A similar case happened in a village of Soroca district on January 17. In the house a family, there was found the body of a woman aged 74. Her 75-year-old husband was also beaten cruelly, but survived.
