Parliament on November 23 adopted in two readings the bill to ratify the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled, IPN reports.
The goal of the Treaty is to increase the number of books in accessible formats and to make them available to people who are blind, have low vision or are otherwise print disabled, especially at transfrontier level. The signatory parties will favor the transfrontier exchange of books in accessible formats. To establish an efficient legal balance, the norms of the treaty define a minimum protection level, while the states will be able to broaden the approach.
The Treaty was adopted in Marrakesh on June 27, 2013.
