Ukraine has liberated half of the territories occupied by Russia and is constantly advancing, stated the Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova, Marko Shevchenko. According to the diplomat, as Ukraine prepares to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of its independence, the entire Ukrainian people is confident that the country will eventually drive the Russian invaders out and liberate all of its temporarily occupied territories.

“We are now at our highest in terms of independence and military might. Of course, our independence levels were greater in some particular areas before the war, economically, for example. Now we are less financially independent, because a large part of our public budget now relies on our external partners for help. But today we are absolutely independent from the Russian Federation. When our partners see that you are sincere in your choice, assistance comes. The greater the own effort, the greater the assistance from outside. Before the war, all our allies thought that Ukraine would last between 24 and 72 hours. And only when we demonstrated that the whole society was mobilized and making efforts, the foreign aid came”, Ambassador Marko Shevchenko said during a program on Radio Moldova.

The diplomat also says that the Ukrainian army manages to liberate the territories temporarily occupied by Russia, and the whole society is convinced that the victory will be on the side of Ukraine in this war.

“Ukraine has liberated almost half of the territory occupied by the Russian Federation and we are making further progress. Our soldiers are advancing both in the South and in the East. So, we are able not only to resist, but also to find solutions to free our territories that are temporarily occupied. The whole society is confident that we will succeed, sooner or later. If at the beginning Russia bragged that Kyiv would fall in three days, now we see that Russian officials, lawmakers, political scientists or those who have access to Western chancelleries, come up with ridiculous arguments along the lines that Russia cannot lose a war because it is a nuclear power. The Russian army has already demonstrated that it is weak, and their only advantage is in its numbers, and that’s it”, the Ukrainian diplomat added.

On August 24, Ukraine is celebrating its most important national holiday, Independence Day.
