Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked banning an economic entity from selling at the Central Market after a vendor cheated two young men, selling them by almost half a kilogram less meat, Info-Prim Neo reports. The mayor saw pictures about the incident on TV, taken by the mobile phone by one of the victims. The young people weighted the meat at a control scale and established that they were cheated. They returned to the stall from where they bought the meat, returned it and asked that they be paid back the money. They also called the police. A policeman came, but said he can do nothing as the seller accepted the meat back. “The violation was evident, but the authorities have not yet reacted. The persons to blame should have been identified and punished. The lack of reaction points to complicity or inability to react promptly,” said the mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca asked not allowing the economic entity to work and to impose the required punishment. He ordered checking all the scales of the economic entities working at the Central Market and increasing the number of control scales. The head of the Chisinau municipal police Silviu Musuc said the seller risks a fine of 500 to 1 000 lei. An internal inquiry will be opened to identify the policeman who was called to the scene. Vladimir Nirca, the head of the City Hall’s Trade Division, said in this connection that the selling hall is authorized and the vendors there work under patent. Representatives of the municipal services will report on the steps taken by the end of the day.
