Former Communist MP and presidential adviser Mark Tkachuk said the intensely discussed situational coalition cannot be formed in the future Parliament. According to him, the coalition form in the future legislature does not really matter, IPN reports.

Mark Tkachuk said theoretically a situational coalition is possible, but in practice this will not happen as the bloc ACUM would not be available. “We saw the statement of the U.S. Department of State that congratulated the power and the winners. That’s why everything is clear. What kind of situational coalition?”, asked the former Communist MP. He noted the coalition form is not really important. A similar situation existed in 2013, when the Communists reached an agreement with the Liberal Democratic Party, but the foreign partners intervened and this was not implemented.

The politologist considers the Party of Socialists has never had a chance to score a victory following the replacement of the electoral system and the introduction of single-member constituencies and owing to the policies they pursued during the past few years. In particular, the Socialists promoted ideas similar to those of the Democratic Party: renouncing of geopolitics, “fourth path”, neutrality. The PSRM actually dreams of forming a coalition with the PDM.

According to Mark Tkachuk, the MPs who entered Parliament have no plan of action and such a plan hadn’t been discussed in the election campaign. The parties should boycott the recent parliamentary elections. Those who won seats of MP are “accomplices” of the current regime. Politics in Moldova disappeared completely after the presidential elections of 2016. “For me, it was clear that a a fake, imitation history would follow,” he stated.

Mark Tkachuk said he renounced the seat of MP and left politics because at a certain moment he understood that the Party of Communists and its then administration didn’t intend to win the legislative elections of 2014. “The party became a spoiler determined only to take part. I, as an MP elected by the people, didn’t see my role in such a political organization,” he noted, adding he has no kind of relations with the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin at present.
