The main concern of Romania as concerns Moldova is related to its security, Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazruca said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“We would like the hotbed of instability in Ukraine not to come close to Moldova’s borders. We want peace and harmony to continue until the elections and free and fair elections to be held so that you form the best government in the history of your state,” said the diplomat.
According to Marius Lazruca, Romania will continue to disinterestedly help Moldova on condition that the Moldovans want this and that the Romanian government does not make a difference between the Moldova citizens by ethnicity or the spoken language. The ambassador said he considers Romanians too those who state that they are Moldovans as we have a common religion, language and culture.
Marius Lazurca stated that the accent in the spoken language and the model of organizing the powers in the state are the only differences between Romania and Moldova. Asked about the language spoken on Moldova’s territory, Lazurca said he respects the Constitutional Court’s decision saying the Declaration of Independence, which stipulates the glotonim ‘Romanian language’, prevails over the Constitution, which provides that the language spoken in Moldova is called ‘Moldovan’.
The ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the development pace of the Moldovan-Romanian relations. “We are coming closer and understand each other much better. The young generation of Moldovans who come to Romania to study or to vacation come to their home,” he stated.
Speaking about the November 30 parliamentary elections, Marius Lazurca noted he is optimistic that the outcome will meet Moldovan people’s expectations. “We will witness a confrontation between the offers of the pro-Europeans parties and the offers of the anti-European parties that will present another integration model. The people are waiting for much more complex ideas from the politicians,” he said.
