Marina Tauber polls most of votes in first round of snap mayoral elections in Bălți

The candidate of Șor Party Marina Tauber gained the largest number of votes in the first round of the snap mayoral elections held in the municipality of Bălți on November 21. She polled 47.93% of the ballot (15,918 voters), IPN reports, quoting the Central Election Commission.

Close to midnight, the Commission announced that the inferior electoral bodies completed the vote count and presented the preliminary results of the snap mayoral elections held in 15 localities of Moldova. This is the information received before the submission of the documents in the original by the district electoral councils.

The second place in Bălți was taken by independent candidate Nicolai Grigorishin, with 20.93% of the vote (6,951 voters). The next position was occupied by the Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate Boris Marcoci (4,679) and the candidate of the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists Alexandr Nesterovschi (4,677) with an equal score of 14.08%.

The voter turnout in Bălți was 32.79% (33,596 voters). 

Under the Electoral Code, if none of the candidates gains at least half of the ballot, a runoff vote is held in two weeks and this features the two candidates who won most of the votes in the first round. Therefore, the mayoral runoff in the municipality of Bălți will involve Marina Tauber and Nicolai Grigorishin.
