Moldova’s Marin Robu won a bronze medal at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Bahrain, IPN reports, with reference to the National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Robu achieved the result of 379 kg in the 89 kg weight class and was surpassed by the Olympic champion of Bulgaria Karlos Nasar and the North Korea’s Ro Kwang-ryol.

The Moldovan athlete also won bronze medal in snatch with the result of 173 kg.

The weightlifter won medals at the World Championships in 2021. In August this year, Marin Robu was close to winning a medal at the Paris Olympic Games. After the competition, the Moldovan athlete accused the referees of awarding a wrong lift to his direct opponent and, respectively, the bronze medal went to the Italian athlete.
