Mariana Draguțan to fight for bronze at World Championships

Moldovan athlete Mariana Draguțan will contend for the bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, IPN reports.

She beat Turkey’s Melda Dernekci and Hungary’s Erika Bognar, but in the semifinals was defeated by Haruna Okuno of Japan. Her 55kg weight class is not an Olympic one.

Maxim Salcuțan is yet fighting for an Olympic quota in the 65kg class. He will compete in playoffs after winning against Cavit Acar of Turkey, Colin Realbuto of Italy and Georgia’s Edemi Bolkvadze. In the quarterfinals, Saculțan was beaten by Sebastian Rivera of Puerto Rico.

Anastasia Nikita enters the competition today. The world champion doesn’t yet know her opponent.
