The Liberal Party head considers that Marian Lupu, the presidential candidate of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI), should put forward his candidacy. Mihai Ghimpu said that only this way will they see if the AEI’s candidate polls the 61 votes needed or not, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Marian Lupu should have fielded his candidacy. It would have meant – vote for me; if you don’t, I, as Acting President, will dissolve Parliament. The game would have been over,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
The Democratic leader Marian Lupu Thursday told the press that he will put up his candidacy for the presidency even if there is a risk that he will not be elected.
Marian Lupu’s intention to run for the presidency was welcomed publicly by the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party. “I wish him success, if he wins 61 votes. If he does not, we will have early elections,” said Vlad Filat.
