Marian Lupu, who is the Democratic Party’s candidate for President, said he will take part in debates only if he confronts directly the anti-European candidate Igor Dodon in these, IPN reports, quoting a statement of the PDM.

In favor of his decision, Marian Lupu brings as example the latest events that ‘clarify the electoral struggle’ and the fact that he has a lot of invitations to radio and TV stations. “I publicly warn him not to avoid these confrontations and not to hide behind debates with candidates who are convenient for him, but have no chance of reaching the second round of voting,” he stated.

Marian Lupu said he clearly showed, especially in the recent past, that he will struggle for the European integration of Moldova, which is the only path for solving the problems of the country and its people. “Our campaign focuses on the European course, which we consider our national project. The other candidates center on other themes and the own ambitions. This is surely their right. I clearly showed that I pursue the goal of counteracting the external plan of changing Moldova’s European course and the subversive plan of federalizing the country. That’s why the opponent of the country’s European future and of the unitary state Moldova is my opponent too. It is evident that the representative of the anti-European plan and of the federalization project is the Party of Socialists’ candidate,” stated the Democrat.

The leader of the PDM considers for the people of Moldova it is very important for the electoral debates to center on this confrontation of ideas – between the project of the unitary European state and the anti-European project to destroy the state. He noted that the maintaining of the European course is the major stake of the upcoming elections.

According to Marian Lupu, it is also very important for the electoral debates to take place in conditions of correctness and equidistance, ensured by those who organize them. “Only within honest confrontations can we make sure that the people will get the messages of the main candidates in these elections and will be able to vote consciously,” he stated.
