There is a difference between the current format of the government and the previous one and there are institutional differences, based on the agreement on the formation of the Pro-European Coalition, which is wider and fills the communication cap from the previous format – the Alliance for European Integration, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said in the public debate “Lessons learned and lessons to be learned. Overcoming and prevention of political crises: role of the political class and society - 2” that was staged by IPN News Agency

The politician said that there was a shortage of communication in the first ruling alliance. Communication methods existed, but there was no wish to communicate. According to Marian Lupu, platforms for communication were ensured in the current format. “I think that the members of the current coalition better realize the consequences of the lack of communication, emphasis being put on the partnership between the ruling parties, not on competition,” stated the Democratic leader.

As to the viability of the current government coalition, Marian Lupu said that in the talks on the creation of the new parliamentary majority he could have insisted that the post of Speaker be returned to him, but he hadn’t done it. “There were favorable conditions for promoting different interests, but I understood that if I take over the post again, this will generate tension and I gave up,” he stated.

He also said that dangers to a coalition government always exist, but their negative effects become minimal when there are mechanisms for remedying the situation. Marian Lupu underlined that the crisis ought to be solved as the country’s development and modernization were in danger.

The 20th public debate “Lessons learned and lessons to be learned. Overcoming and prevention of political crises: role of the political class and society - 2” of the series “Development of political culture by public debates” was organized with support from the German foundation “Hanns Siedel”.
