The leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu is convinced that the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) prepares for early elections. He told a news conference that the bills passed in Parliament on May 3 by the votes of the PLDM and the Communist Party (PCRM) show that the leaders of the two parties reached an agreement, IPN reports.
Marian Lupu said that Vlad Filat and the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin agreed what bills to put forward, while the PLDM promised the Communists that all the actions are aimed at drawing the early elections closer. The bill to amend the Law on the Government is a relevant example.
“If the PLDM had intended to form a new government, it would have focused on negotiations. Why should the powers of an interim Premier be extended if a Prime Minister is to be elected in a week? Extended powers are needed by an interim Premier who would hold the post for a longer period, until the elections for example,” said Marian Lupu.
He also said that he recently discussed with a number of European officials, who wanted to know what bills were put forward by the lawmakers on the last 100 meters. According to Marian Lupu, the European officials noted that some of the bills can stop the European integration process and the negotiations on the Association Agreement with the EU.
