The Democratic Party (PDM) will concede the post of Speaker, but it does not yet know who will take it over – a representative of the Liberal Party or of the group of 14 former Communist MPs who created the Social-Democratic Platform, the Democrats’ leader said in the talk show “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
When the Filip Government was voted in, the PDM held two key posts in the state – that of Head of Parliament and that of Prime Minister. “The Democratic Party understands that we have a coalition government, which consists of different political groups. In such conditions, one component of the three that formed the parliamentary alliance cannot hold all the posts. Such a form of coalition government implies a balance. I said that if a Prime Minister is voted in, the PDM will vacate the post of Speaker, which is the next partner by size,” stated Marian Lupu.
The leader of the PDM also said that this thing will happen before the election of the new head of state. The decision as to who will take up this post will be taken within the parliamentary alliance. “The parliamentary alliance will decide it because I can have an opinion, while my colleagues can have another opinion,” he stated.
Asked if the current Speaker knows that he will have to vacate the seat, Marian Lupu said that Andrian Candu knows this because he forms part of the PDM’s team and administration.
