The chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova Marian Lupu addressed a video message to the citizens and the party’s members before the open election of the PDM’s candidates for seats of MP. He highlighted the reasons why they launched such an initiative and called on the Moldovans to be active in the public and political life, IPN reports.

In his message, Marian Lupu says that on September 28 the people from all over Moldova will be able to choose those who deserve to be on the election list of the PDM. “Neither I, nor the administration of the PDM or local organizations have the right to tell somebody who they should field. Some of our opponents already resorted to manipulations on this issue and intend to continue them. It is our duty to make sure that this first internal election in Moldova is fair and transparent and is a victory for the people and our party,” he stated.

The leader of the Democrats noted that the PDM put forward such an initiative following the critical attitude of the population to the political class. “Together with my colleagues from the Democratic Party, we decided not to speak, but to act and give the people the power to decide so as to show them that they can and should influence the political affairs. Moldova’s problems are the people’s problems, not the problems mentioned in the reports of experts or the speeches of politicians. I’m glad that the people all over the country welcomed our idea. They confirmed that they want their voice to be heard and that they want to decide what should be done in the country and what tasks should be entrusted to the country’s administration,” Marian Lupu says in his video message.

On Sunday, September 28, the Democratic Party holds a preliminary internal election at the head offices of its local organizations, in which the people will propose candidates for the party’s list of candidates for the November 30 parliamentary elections.
