“I’m absolutely sure that the money stolen from Banca de Economii (BEM) can be restored,” the chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said in the program “Friday” on RTR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
The Democratic leader argued that the modern technology allows this. “It’s impossible to hide transactions with such huge sums of money. It’s clear that problems will be encountered with the cash. I mean the money that was already withdrawn from accounts. But experts say that these sums are not very large,” he stated.
Marian Lupu expressed his conviction that the money from the BEM was stolen with the involvement of decision makers of the government. “The size of the stolen sum shows that it was impossible to steal the money without the involvement of high-ranking officials of governmental institutions,” he said.
He expressed his optimism about the future of the Gaburici Government. “The Communists voted this Government and assumed thus a part of the responsibilities. I don’t think that the PCRM will seek the dismissal of some of the ministers. This would deepen the crisis and Parliament could be dissolved so that early elections would follow. As far as I know, the Communists do not want this,” stated Marian Lupu.
