The president of the Democrat Party Marian Lupu has not changed his opinion that it was an attempted coup on April 7, 2009. He made statements for the press on March 23, before entering the Prosecutor General's Office for questioning, Info-Prim Neo reports.
"In fact, those events had a number of characteristics showing that it was an attempted coup,” said Marian Lupu, who was Head of Parliament in that period.
Asked who staged the coup, the Democrat leader said the things are visible, while the indistinct aspects should be clarified by the Prosecutor's Office and the parliamentary commission of inquiry. “I also want to know those things,” he said.
He also said that on April 7, from morning until 15.30, he was in his office in the Parliament. Then he wen to the Government to meet with leaders of the Opposition. After he held a news conference he remained in the Prime Minister's anteroom.
As to the hoisting of Romania's flag on the building of the Parliament, Marian Lupu said that thing was a shame.
Referring to Valeriu Boboc, who died during the April protests, Lupu said he asked for information, but nobody told him something about that case. He said that during four years he had been gradually denied access to information and prevented from taking part in the decision making process at the PCRM and that was the reason why he left the party.
Marian Lupu considers that it is too early to accuse political parties for the April 2009 events, but the persons to blame should be held accountable.
