Marian Lupu considers Premier’s statement that he will resign is accidental

Head of Parliament Marian Lupu believes the statement that the Government will resign if Moldova does not get a visa-free regime with the EU, made by Prime Minister Vlad Filat, is accidental. According to him, similar statements were made earlier and nothing happened, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu also said that he has a principle: if a person does not want to hold a post, he/she should not be obliged to do it by force. In a program on the public TV channel on Thursday evening, Vlad Filat said he was ready to sacrifice his political career if Moldova does not obtain a liberalized visa regime with the European Union. The liberalization of the visa regime is an objective of the Government and, if this goal is not achieved, it will resign. Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca also said he will resign if Moldova does not get a visa-free regime by this yearend. Experts projected a new deadline – September 2013.
