The chances are 50/50, the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, confirming that the chances to create a center-left coalition are equal to those to form a center-right coalition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Asked how he understands the principle of equilibrium in governance, Marian Lupu referred to the functioning of the Presidential Office, Parliament and the Government. “At internal level, we must foster the development of a democratic state and ensure the fundamental freedoms. We must implement at home the European and international standards, liberalize the economy and focus on demonopolization. The principle of equilibrium is present everywhere,” said Marian Lupu.
Speaking about the principle of equilibrium at foreign level, the leader of the PDM said the European integration and excellent strategic relations with the EU do not mean bad relations with the Eastern European countries. “This means strengthening Moldova's status of neutrally. Both Brussels and Moscow realize this,” Marian Lupu said.
He considers that the discussions he had recently with the head of the Russian presidential administration Sergey Naryshkin were conducted in a civilized and extremely intelligent way. “I like this man and the way he stated his position on the situation in Moldova. I assure you no pressure was exerted and could be exerted,” Lupu said.
Asked if he left the PCRM in order to return to this party as part of a coalition, Marian Lupu said he defected from the Communists Party because he was not treated as a partner who had ideas, thoughts, proposals, views. “I left and became president of the Democratic Party. This position offers me possibility and independence in action and thinking,” he stressed.
