The Cabinet on April 27 approved a decision by which Maria Borta, who had headed the National House of Social Insurance (CNAS) during many years, is discharged from this post, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the dismissal decision was taken based on Maria Borta’s resignation, but later specified the reasons for the dismissal. “It was my initiative. I asked that she should resign. The reason is the impact of the decision on the indexation of pensions that wasn’t completely thought up. We all know the consequences – 36,000 people witnessed a decrease, not an increase in their pensions. I had to personally intervene to remedy the situation. It was decided to continue to provide state financial support to these people. No one must suffer following the decisions taken by the authorities,” he stated.
By another decision, Marin Ciobanu was dismissed from the post of manager of the Balti Free Economic Zone. The comment of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac was short: “We need less politics and more effort at work.”
