The seventeenth International Festival of Opera and Ballet Stars “Maria Biesu Invites” opens on September 11 with the opera in two acts “Alexandru Lapusneanu” by Gheorghe Mustea. The spectators are expected to the National Opera House in Chisinau at 18.30, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on September 10, the artistic director and first conductor of the National Opera House Nicolae Dohotaru said that the classical music is very important in the cultural life of every people. Soloist Mihail Munteanu, people’s artist of the USSR and holder of the Order of the Republic, said that the festival aims to propagate the opera music and the ballet. “It is the beginning of the season. I’m sure that the halls will be full,” he said. Parascovia Berghie, the vice resident of the Musicians’ Union of Moldova and director of the festival, said that famous soloists from Russia, Bulgaria, Polonium, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and other countries have been invited to the festival in Chisinau. The conductors include Marco Boemi from Italy, Alexandru Samoila from Turkey , Vladimir Garcus from Ukraine and Nicolai Koleadko from Belarus. The seventeenth International Festival of Opera and Ballet Stars “Maria Biesu Invites” will end with a gala concert at the National Palace on September 19. It will start at 17.00.
