National Opera's chief vocalist Maria Biesu today, August 3, received congratulations from family, friends, colleagues, officials and fans. A delegation from the Musicians Union, which she chairs, sang her “Multi ani traiasca!” (ed: the Romanian analogue for Happy Birthday to You!) and wished her to return to the stage as soon as possible, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Maria Biesu has been endowed with a huge talent, but this wouldn't mean a thing if she wasn't also very strong and so methodical. She has an immense inner power. It is a great pleasure to work together with this artiste. We wish to see you soon enter a Theater named after Maria Biesu”, said director Gheorghe Mustea. Folk singer Zinaida Julea thanked Mara Biesu for bringing fame to Moldova and for letting the whole world find out about Moldova's spiritual riches. “Maria Biesu is part of Moldova's patrimony and she deserves all the esteem and the deepest bowing” , said acting President Marian Lupu. Prime Minister Vlad Filat also wrote to congratulate the Prima Donna. “I bow before you for all that you have done for our culture and national art. You are one of the few artists who made the name of our country famous on the world's great stages, for which we are profoundly grateful”. Filat's aide Leonid Bujor gave the Prima Donna a bouquet of white roses on behalf of the prime minister, wishing her a long and healthy life. “I am so glad to see so many young and beautiful faces around me. I'm delighted that the youth know me. I really miss the stage and the audience's cheers and applause. I miss my mother, the times when we sang together, I miss my native area. I hope I will be strong enough to return to the stage soon”, said Maria Biesu. Soprano Maria Biesu has performed numerous roles in her 50-year-long career as an opera singer, earning national and international acclaim. She is the hostess of an International Opera and Ballet Festival named after her.
