Andrian Mardare failed to qualify for the javelin throwing finals in the World Athletics Championships in London, IPN reports.
The 22 year old obtained a result of 80.18 meters, ranking 17th in the qualifying stage. Germany’s Johannes Vetter topped the group with a result of 91.20 meters.
Two months ago, in Tel-Aviv, Mardare established a Moldovan record, throwing his spear at a distance of 83.93 meters. Such a result would have allowed him to reach the World Championships finals for seniors.
Serghei Marghiev is the only Moldovan athlete who qualified for the London finals. He will participate in the hammer throwing contest on the last day of the tournament.
