Global Recycling Day on March 18 is an opportunity to draw attention to the importance of proper management of used equipment. Experts in the field warn that millions of devices are thrown every year, polluting the soil and water with dangerous substances, and recycling becomes a necessary solution to protect the environment, IPN reports.
In Moldova, the Ecovoucher Program supports this process by offering the possibility to replace old appliances with new, energy-efficient ones. Since the launch of the current session on February 26, more than 3,300 pieces of used equipment have been collected, the aim being to get at 32,000 recycled units.
In order to check how this waste is managed, representatives of the National Center for Sustainable Energy (NCSE) recently visited EcoSave, Ultraservice and MoldRec, companies that were authorized to process old equipment.
The Ecovoucher Program is funded by Norway, implemented by the NCSE and the Ministry of Energy, within the project "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in the Republic of Moldova" (E4M), which is supported by the European Union, Germany, Norway and Denmark.
The authorities and project partners emphasize the importance of responsible e-waste management, explaining that recycling is not just a choice, but a necessity for a clean and healthy environment.
