Moldovan athlete Marcel Trudov has won the bronze medal at the Seniors’ European Judo Championship. This is Moldova’s first important victory at this competition in eight years, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The five battles I had were rather difficult. But the fight with Hungary’s Attila Ungvari was the most difficult as he was a serious contender. If I had defeated Ungvari, I would have taken the second position. Probably, I had to use a different tactic,” Marcel Trudov said at a news conference on Tuesday.
According to the president of the Judo Federation of Moldova Veaceslav Manolache, the competition was stiff. “Such a success was possible due to the fact that Marcel Trudov observed the training technology,” Manolache said.
For this victory, Marcel Trudov will receive a monthly stipend of 7,000 lei. The European Judo Championed was held in Georgia between April 24 and 26.
Moldova scored the last victory at the European Judo Championship in 2001, when Nicolae Belocosov won the bronze medal.
