The Rotaract Chisinau Club that forms part of the Rotary International Club is organizing a 5 km mini-marathon in reaction to the terrorist attack on Boston, the U. S. The event is aimed at expressing support to the victims and has the motto: “Continue running. Together for Boston”, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the club, by such a method they will show solidarity and moral support to the people who were affected by the tragic event. Two explosions occurred during the sports marathon held annually in Boston on April 15. Three persons, one of whom an eight-year-old child, were killed, while over 140 were injured. “We consider the attacks on the people’s lives as unacceptable, no matter where they take place,” said representatives of Rotaract Chisinau Club.
The two bombs placed at a distance of about 90 meters from each other exploded almost simultaneously. 17 of the 144 people injured are in a critical state, while 25 are in a serious state, eight of them being children. The doctors performed over 10 amputations. The police in the U.S. announced that they managed to deactivate another two bombs put in the same place.
The mini-marathon in support of the victims of the Boston attack will take place in “Valea Morilor” Park in Chisinau on April 21, at 15.00.
