The National Greening Day “A Tree for our Eternity”, brought thousands of people in Chisinau to volunteer works on Saturday, March 31. They are to plant about 20,000 trees and 13,000 shrubs.
Works on pruning and planting trees were also in full swing in the centre of the capital. Nina Chiriliuc, representative of the Green Spaces Agency in Buiucani district, told Info-Prim Neo that the team she leads is responsible of the arrangement of turfs, pruning and planting trees for the entire period of the cleanup works. According to her, on Saturday, a team of 11 people will cut down 5 old trees in front of the Parliament and plant another 5 young lime-trees in their place. The young lime-trees will complete the alley planted this spring in front of the Parliament building.
However, Nina Chiriliuc mentioned that the productivity of workers involved in the arrangement of turfs and cutting down old trees is not very high because there is not much technology involved. The quoted source stated that in Buiucani district alone 300 trees are to be planted today. Also fit-out works are to be operated at the “La Izvor” and “Alunelul” Parks.
Representatives of Chisinau City Hall and the Municipal Council participated in planting trees at the “Dumbrava Vest” seedbed.
Representatives of ministries, raion chairmen, mayors have also organised plantation of trees and shrubs. According to the Government decision, special attention was to be paid to the plantation of walnut trees. Until April 23, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources is to draw a conclusion of the results of greening in this spring.
Economic entities, students from different educational institutions and other Chisinau residents will be involved in cleanup activities of the capital before Easter. In Chisinau, a special committee will inspect districts so as to evaluate the hygienic situation of the city. At the same time municipal authorities took upon themselves the responsibility to install equipment for playgrounds and several hundred park benches in their districts.
