Many of the divisions of the City Hall that are being reorganized by the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council worked inefficiency and non-transparently. Therefore, the inhabitants of Chisinau could not benefit from high-quality services. Such opinions were formulated in the program “Key Issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Chisinau councilor on behalf of the Party of Socialists Stas Vartanean said it wasn’t clear what some of the divisions dealt with, but they spent significant amounts every year. “It wasn’t clear what the Agriculture Division did at the City Hall, but this annually spent over half a million lei. The Social-Ecological Division had a budget of 1.5 million lei, but dealt with unclear things,” stated the councilor.
Civic activist Sergiu Ungureanu said the mergers at the Chisinau City Hall are beneficial as the situation and the relations between people will change, but this is only half of the step. “Concrete work should be done further to create mechanisms that would not allow doing inefficient work. Everything should be more transparent and this mechanism should root out misconducts,” stated the activist.
On February 7, the Chisinau Municipal Council approved a decision to merge the Social-Ecological Division with the Public Amenities Division and the Agriculture and Food Division with the General Division of Economy, Reforms and Property Relations. Also, the Culture Division will be absorbed by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, while the Health Division and the Chisinau Municipal Population Support Fund Division will merge with the General Social Assistance Division by absorption.
