The technical services of the five districts of Chisinau are to check the manhole lids in the city, following a request made by deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu after a two-year-old girl fell into an unsecured manhole before the eyes of her mother near the Palace of the Republic, IPN reports.
“I ask the technical services to initiate inspections. They should check these to see in what condition they are,” the deputy mayor said in the October 8 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions.
The girl who fell into the manhole was lucky to suffer only a minor injury as she fell onto underground cables. The Health Division’s head Mihai Moldovanu informed that after she was examined by doctors of the Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco”, she could go home.
