Despite showing a fairly good game, Sheriff Tiraspol were defeated 1:0 by the much more experienced Turkish club Fenerbahce Istanbul on Thursday. Here are some of the comments by both managers in a a post-match news conference: Sheriff manager Leonid Kuchuk said he was satisfied with his side's performance, but not with the result. “I really liked the match. Both sides were combative and showed an interesting game. After receiving the goal, we tried to go offensive, but we didn't manage to score, despite several occasions. I think it was a good lesson for us of how we should play against solid clubs like Fenerbahce. I'm sure we can do better. It can be seen that our overall team play has improved, and it will eventually yield good results”, stated Kuchuk. Fenerbahce's German coach Christoph Daum also praised the Moldovan champions, but criticized his side's performance. “Sheriff played as expected. We saw some matches with our adversaries and we were ready to confront a strong side. Sheriff are a good team and I think all the clubs that will play them will have big problems”, said Daum. But commenting on the match itself, the German said his only satisfaction was the result. “The only positive thing of the match was that we won an important victory and improved our situation in the standings. However, I wasn't happy with the content of my team's game”, Christoph Daum said.
