A man aged 25 from Chisinau was fined almost 200,000 lei for trying to smuggle into Moldova slightly over 3 grams of hashish that he was bringing from the Netherlands hidden in personal belongings, IPN reports, with reference to a press release issued by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS).
The offense was investigated by PCCOCS together with the Customs Service. The Hâncești Court fined the man for attempt to smuggle hashish for personal use. The sentence is not yet final.
The narcotic substance was found in a minibus transporting parcels from the Netherlands at the Leuseni customs post in March 2022. The given quantity of drugs on the black market costs about 1,000 lei.
