The young man who robbed two banks in Balti at the end of last year was sentenced to seven years in jail for robbery and illegal keeping of ammunitions, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The 20-year-old man, who lives in Balti municipality, entered a bank in a balaclava and, using violence against employees, stole 4,000 lei. In the second bank, the culprit fired two shots at the guard, injuring him, but this put up resistance and the young man withdrew without taking money with him.

In several days, the young man and an accomplice, being armed with a pistol and a knife and with balaclavas, entered a filling station and attacked two operators, telling them to give them the money from the cash register. But the victims put up resistance and the attackers had to leave with nothing.

The culprit was also obliged to return the stolen money to the bank. His accomplice got six years.

The sentence is not yet definitive.
