Dumitru Pogorea, who returned to Moldova after staying for 30 years in the Russian Federation, said that the judicial system in the country turned into a pocket one. In a news conference hosted by IPN, the man suggested liquidating the Superior Council of Magistracy so that the judges are named by the Parliament’s responsible commission and the President confirms them in posts. He also proposed reducing the number of judges at the Supreme Court of Justice.

Dumitru Pogorea considers the prosecutor general should be elected by direct ballot, as the President is, but not for four years, but for six years. Parliament should be empowered to dismiss the person holding the post of prosecutor general by at least 51 votes. District prosecutors should be elected as the MPs, by constituencies, and should be confirmed by the President or proposed by the Parliament’s legal commission and confirmed by the President.

In another development, Dumitru Pogorea referred to the remuneration of labor and social guarantees, saying that most of the pensions are very low. Each working person should have a card which would show the size of the pension accumulated so far.

Also, the authorities should take steps and ensure the people’s access to preferential loans in different areas. The worked time and breaks in work should be monitored more strictly, in accordance with the Labor Code provisions.
