The man from Cantemir district who killed his three children aged one, four and six was sentenced to 30 years in jail. Prosecutors proved that this summer, the culprit, being in an advanced state of inebriation, has stabbed his minor sons with a kitchen knife after a telephone conflict with his wife, our of jealousy.
Contacted by IPN, prosecutor who dealt with this case Adrian Procoava said the mental evaluation showed the man was competent to stand trial. Ife he had been incompetent, he would have been placed in a psychiatric hospital. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
The crime was committed on the night of July 16. The man called the police himself after killing his children. These had stab wounds in the neck. The man tried to kill himself, injuring himself with a knife in the neck. He was taken to the Cantemir District Hospital and was saved. The children’s mother was in Chisinau when the tragedy happened.
