A man from Nisporeni raion risks from 2 to 5 years in prison or a fine of 80,000 lei for “active corruption”, after he had offered a policeman a 40 lei bribe and later promised him to give meat, sausage and construction materials as “reward”. According to the press Center of the Interior Ministry, a man aged 44 was stopped by a road policeman while he was driving intoxicated and without driving license a “Golf II” car. The subsequent tests confirmed the anticipations of the policemen who escorted the man to the Police Station in Nisporeni raion for initiating proceedings. While the policeman was drawing up the proceedings, Ion Plop proposed him 40 lei for exempting him from administrative punishment. Moreover, Plop promised the policeman next day to give him food products and construction materials valued at 1000 lei. The man did not know that the policeman’s office was equipped with special audio and video devices that registered the bribery attempt. Since the beginning of 2006 the police have registered 177 cases of corruption.
