The police detained the person that fired a gun and injured the son of the AMN leader from Sangera. Iurie Ciocan, the secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said that the incident is not connected with the electoral process.
Ala Meleca, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has stated for Info-Prim Neo that two persons had a quarrel and one of them fired two shots. “A man was injured to the leg. The witnesses and those involved in the conflict are not questioned by the police (at 19.20 – e.n.). The culprit is under arrest. Legal action will be taken over this case,” Ala Meleca said.
The incident occurred in the village, not at the polling station and has no connection with the electoral process, Iurie Ciocan said.
Leonid Bujor, a member of the Standing Bureau of the AMN who traveled to the scene, has told Info-Prim Neo that the AMN leader from Sangera Stefan Bumbu and his son were attacked by an unidentified person, who was accompanied by two Communist councilors, when they were returning from the polling place. Stefan Bumbu has his nose broken, while his son, who was injured by the unknown person, was taken to the Emergency Hospital in Chisinau.
The incident happened neat a police station that is 150-200 meters from the polling place. The three police officers standing nearby did nothing to calm things down, Leonid Bujor said.
