Man suspected of sexually abusing child in Ungheni district

A new case of child sexual abuse has been reported in Moldova. It happened in Semeni village of Ungheni district. The victim is an 11-year-old boy. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, prosecution officer in Ungheni Oxana Dereneu said the suspect is held at the remand center and the results of the medical-legal examination will be soon ready. “Evidence is being collected to prove the man’s guilt,” Oxana Dereneu said. She gave no other details, saying the investigation is secret. Two months ago, the parents of two children aged 7 and 8 informed the police that their sons have been sexually abused by an older roommate in a summer camp in Orhei. According to ombudswoman Tamara Plamadeala, the examination showed it was sexual abuse. The offender cannot be held accountable as he is minor. His parents cannot be punished either as they entrusted their ten-year-old son to the camp’s administration
