A man aged 65 was arrested in the evening of February 13 after he committed a road accident on Pionerskaya St in Bender town and then started to quarrel with a passerby and shot him from a gun. The latter was taken to the hospital, but didn’t survive. Before being arrested, the suspect, who was celebrating his birthday, barricaded himself in the basement of a building and continued to fire at the police, IPN reports.
The area was isolated and road traffic was blocked. The attempts to convince the man to surrender himself failed. After about two hours, the police besieged the basement and arrested the suspect. No one was hurt.
It is not yet known what made the man act like this.
