A 60-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in a serious state, with burns practically all over the body, after an explosion occurred in his house in Călimănești village of Nisporeni district in the morning of July 19.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the call to the 112 Service was made close to 7am. The teams of rescuers that travelled to the scene determined that a gas cylinder exploded inside the house without causing a fire.
As a result of the blast, 60% of the house and the fences near the neighboring houses were damaged. The house owner was taken out of the debris by rescuers. He suffered burns on 80% of the body and was rushed to the district hospital.
Contacted by IPN for details, senior press officer of the Nisporeni Police Inspectorate Cristina Vicol said the man lived alone, as the relatives related. He was supervised by a psychiatrist and abused alcohol. The cause of the blast is yet to be found out.
