Man sentenced to eight years in prison for beating wife to death with besom

A man beat violently his wife with the besom with which he was sweeping the streets. It happened in the central park of Nisporeni town in June 2009. The court sentenced the man to eight years in jail, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Prosecutor General's Office. The two started to quarrel. The man, who was under the influence of alcohol, started to hit his wife with the besom. The woman lost consciousness. After she stayed at home in a coma for several days, the relatives took her to the hospital in a serious condition. In two weeks, the woman died. The man was sentenced under article 151, paragraph (4) of the Penal Code – causing of serious bodily injuries.
