Man sentenced to 9 years in jail for large theft

A 24-year-old Chisinau man was sentenced to 9 years in jail on charges of large theft that caused material damages of 58,000 lei. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the crime was committed in March this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. The theft took place in a second-floor apartment, where the thief entered by the window. Once inside, the young man stole gold and silver jewelry, $1000 and a mobile phone. The court ruled that he should pay 35,000 lei damages to the victim. According to prosecutors, the accused wasn’t employed and had no sources of income. He pawned the jewelry and spent the money on personal needs.
