An Orhei man, 22, was found guilty of raping his 11-year-old stepsister and sentenced to 22 years in a closed prison. He was previously sentenced for similar offenses.
The Prosecutor General's Office said in a press release that the man profited from the fact that the girl's parents had left for a job abroad. In May 2014, he lured his stepsister in a field under the pretext of scything some grass. The abuser then raped the girl at knife-point, threatening her she would kill her if she told anyone.
The next day, the victim went to school where she told everything to the nurse and the principal teacher, who reported it to the police.
The sentence is appealable.
