Man risks 20 years of imprisonment for trafficking in children

A man was arrested by police being suspected of trafficking in children and his wife is considered to be his accomplice. According to the press center of MIA, in the summer of 2004, Alexandru Martea aged 32 together with his wife Maria Martea, aged 36, illegally transported a minor girl to the Russian Federation. Using the pretext of offering her a job they forced her to prostitute herself. In April 2005, Martea was internationally pursued and in August 2006 he was arrested by Russian police on the territory of Krasnogorsk raion in Moscow. Recently, the law enforcement bodies from the Russian Federation handed over Martea to Moldovan authorities, which starting proceeding on his case. The suspect, resident of Malaiesti village, Rascani raion is being arrested by the Center for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. If he will be found guilty he could be imprisoned for 20 years.
