A young man was stopped by the police for speeding in a car without plates. The police found that the drunken driver was not the owner of the car. During hearings, he confessed to murder. The man told the investigators that he and two other villagers had beaten to death the car owner and tossed the body into a pond near Ezerenii Noi vilage, Singerei district.

According to a press release of the General Police Inspectorate, the ones who actually called the officers were a few villagers from Ghiliceni, Telenesti district, who were scared by the speeding driver. The arrested man told how he drank with the car owner, a 48 year old man from Chisinau, and two co-villagers from Zgardesti, Telenesti, on the night of January 11. After a few drinks, the four of them got into the car but then an argument lead to a fight. The young men beat the car owner until he showed no life signs and then tossed his body into a pond.

Shortly after, the other suspects were found and arrested. All three will be charged with first degree murder and face life sentences. They are aged between 20 and 22. One of them had been convicted for car theft, stealing and keeping ammo and the other two for vandalism.
