A 51-year-old man from Rascani town lost his life in a fire caused by a smoldering cigarette. Neighbors said they saw him drunk before the tragedy. Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire happened in an apartment located on the second floor of a building in the afternoon of October 31. The neighbors said the man used to drink alcohol. He had lived alone for about five years as his wife went abroad to work. The couple’s daughter is married and lives in Rezina district. The man worked as a driver all his life, but started to abuse alcohol and stopped work. The 1 766 fires that occurred in Moldova so far this year claimed 100 lives, including of four children.
