Man gets nine years for corn swindle

The administrator of a company from Anenii Noi was sentenced to nine years in jail for swindle. According to prosecutors, the offender sold 45.2 tonnes of corn without paying the supplier, IPN reports.

Within the investigation, it was established that in December 2011, the culprit signed a contract for the purchase of 1,000 tonnes of wheat and 1,000 tonnes of corn from a company. He later swindled the seller out of 45.2 tonnes of corn to the value of 115,000 lei. He transported the corn to a village in Criuleni district and sold it at a lower price, appropriating the money.

Recently, the offender admitted his guilt and was sentenced to nine years in prison. He was also banned from administering propriety for a period of three years and obliged to pay 121,000 lei damages to the injured party.

The sentence is not yet definitive.
