A 39-year-old man was sentenced to six months in jail after he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and without a driver’s license. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man was put on the wanted list and will be placed behind bars as soon as he is detained, IPN reports.

It happened in July 2023 in Horăști village of Ialoveni district. Without having a driver’s license, the man got behind the wheel of a car while inebriated. The police stopped him and tested him with a Drager Alcotest. The result was 0.49mg/l. This concentration, according to the law, shows an advanced state of intoxication.

The criminal case was examined in court in the absence of the defendant. He is to serve his sentence in a semi-closed prison.

The sentence can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeals.
